Say Cheese!

Say Cheese!

Problem Situation We had dealt with this client in other endeavors and he had returned to us with a new business venture. He wanted us to create a logo for his video production company that utilizes drones to capture footage. Solution Logo The client uses a DJI Phantom drone on his video productions, so we decided to use that to influence the design. He wanted the logo to have a friendly, “cartoonish” feel to the look and he provided us a few sample images that we could reference. We decided to combine the landing arms and camera mounts into actual arms holding a camera. This worked rather well and the customer was ecstatic. We cannot wait to see how he incorporates the logo into the branding identity of his new...
Oakland Juice & Co.

Oakland Juice & Co.

Problem Situation The client was on a mission to bring you the benefits of fresh, raw cold-pressed juice created right in Oakland.  Since this was a new business, they needed what everyone needs when starting a new venture: a logo and a website. She asked Odlan to see if we could help her convey the story she wanted to tell in Oakland. Solution Logo For the logo, we wanted to keep the “urban grit” of Oakland incorporated within the brand. Therefore, we decided to go with a chalkboard-ish feel for the logo. We started out with some rough sketches and quickly, came out with a winner. The client has some tweaks; but for the most part, it was ready-to-go. Website Since the client had employees that would maintain the site, we had to decide what type of content management system they would use. After much deliberation, we decided to go with Squarespace. Although, our experience with the platform was very novice, their UI was pretty easy to understand and navigate through. Bottle Design Since everything was new for the firm, even the marketing collateral as well as the juice bottles needed branding. Wall Decor Some of the sketches that were used for the website were enlarged and printed onto canvases to add more character to the establishment. Project Summary Logo Design We created several drawings in sketchbook and client chose the one closest that she best resembled her vision. Then, we converted the sketch into a vector format which made it easier to scale. Website Design After choosing the Squarespace platform to host the company’s website, we worked along side of the firm’s...

Dumpling Dojo

Problem Situation Dumpling Dojo wanted a character for a logo. This little guy would be so overwhelmed with a hunger for great tasting dumplings. Solution Logo We wanted to portray the “Riyu” character in a anime/chibi style. Initially, we sketched out a few ideas from a running dumpling to a little boy hugging a dumpling. The client chose the one he felt best represented his vision. Project Summary Logo Design After creating the basic logo, the client wanted different character views of the Riyu character. To the right, you can see some of those...

Problem Situation The client was opening her new fashion clothing boutique in the LA area of Venice. She was looking to establish a brand and presence. As a result, she asked Odlan to help her draft some ideas and create a branding identity that she could use in her brick-and-mortar store as well as her online store. This also would include marketing collateral, such as business cards, flyers and lookbooks. Solution Logo Initially, we portrayed the logo very graffiti-like – almost like spray paint on a wall. But quickly, we abandoned that direction. We chose to you something more basic and simple.  Website The client wanted to focus on the brick-and-mortar store initially. As a result, we decided on a static site that would be used to present store information as well as receive customer inquiries via email. Custom Illustrations We created custom digital illustrations to use throughout the store and website. Lookbooks As a marketing tool, the company wanted to send out lookbooks to subscribing customers to help promote the season’s upcoming looks. Project Summary Logo Design The final logo ended up being a simple serif font that could be easily typed out on marketing collateral. The kerning was increased to differentiate it. Website Design The site was built with static HTML pages and contained mostly text to relay store information to customers. Marketing Collateral We also assisted in creating the basic templates for the business, such as business cards, hangtags and paper...
